Choosing the right ERS journal
ERS publishes four journals: the European Respiratory Journal, ERJ Open Research, the European Respiratory Review and Breathe. The ERJ and ERJ Open Research publish primarily original research, while the ERR publishes long- and short-form review articles.
ERJ focuses on original research, primarily high-impact clinical and translational studies, although basic studies are also accepted. Review articles are primarily commissioned by the editors. ERJ Open Research publishes good-quality research from across the spectrum of basic, translational and clinical respiratory science and medicine. Both journals accept adult and paediatric research, and critical care, pulmonary vascular disease, oncology and surgical studies are welcome.
The ERR is a review journal, publishing both narrative and systematic long- and short-form reviews and conference proceedings, in all respiratory fields. Breathe has a clinical, educational focus, publishing practical reviews and “how-to” articles alongside educational case presentations and career-focused content.
