ERS is partnering with Web of Science to allow journal reviewers to claim credit for their work, through the Web of Science Reviewer Recognition Service (previously known as Publons).
The Reviewer Recognition Service is part of Web of Science’s Researcher Profiles, which aim to provide an overview of a researcher’s activity in one place.
All you need to do to take part in the Reviewer Recognition Scheme is to click “yes” at the prompt during completion of your review in ScholarOne Manuscripts.
How to add your reviews to the Reviewer Recognition Service
If you already have a Researcher Profile, ERS can add and verify your reviews automatically as you complete them. At the bottom of “Peer Review Preferences” in your profile settings, just switch the “Automatically add reviews” setting to ON.
If you don’t yet have a Researcher Profile, or don’t want to automatically add reviews, you can opt to add a review to your profile by checking the relevant box in ScholarOne Manuscripts as you complete your review. Web of Science will then send you an email with a link to complete the addition of your review or to set up your profile.
Unfortunately the Reviewer Recognition Service doesn’t currently accept reviews of book chapters.
How others will see your peer review activity
ERS publications peer review is anonymous, so individual reviews won’t be visible to others. However, they will be able to see which journals you have reviewed for, and the number of reviews you have contributed.
You can also use your Web of Science profile to synchronise review activity to ORCID.
How to “claim” previous review activity
If you have previously reviewed for an ERS journal but you did not add your review to your Researcher Profile, there are two ways in which you can add the activity to your profile.
- If the article has been published, you can add your review using the form at https://www.webofscience.com/wos/op/peer-reviews/add
- You can forward the email we sent you to thank you for your review to reviews@webofscience.com
In either case, the information will be passed to ERS staff for manual verification. This may take a few days, so please don’t worry if it isn’t immediate.
If you have any queries about this service, please e-mail us at erspublications@ersnet.org
