This licence does not apply to open access articles or chapters published under a Creative Commons licence in any ERS journals or books; neither does it apply to public domain articles or works authored by US government employees.
The European Respiratory Society (ERS) ("the Publisher") holds the exclusive right to reproduction in any form (including publication in another language) and distribution of any of the articles in its journals or the contents of its books. This includes worldwide rights to print, digital and other media in articles or chapters, including abstracts and supplementary materials, and making arrangements to include articles or chapters in document delivery services and databases, etc., worldwide. All rights not expressly granted in this Licence are reserved to the copyright owners.
- The ERS agrees to grant to the user a non-exclusive licence to access the articles and books for the purposes of research, teaching and private study, subject to the terms and conditions of this Licence.
- The user may retrieve, display, download and make single copies of individual articles or chapters for personal use, for use in teaching, learning or training purposes, but not for commercial use. Any copy must contain the authors’ names, full citation details, and Publisher’s copyright notice.
- The user may use the text, metadata and citations of published materials to perform and engage in text/data mining activities for academic research and other educational purposes, provided that the Publisher is notified in writing in advance of the project to ensure they can provide appropriate technical assistance and maintain a log of projects.
- For commercial use, systematic distribution, or figure re-use, explicit written consent must be obtained from the Publisher via permissions@ersnet.org.
- Authors may use their own work for non-commercial purposes, such as teaching, inclusion in a thesis, and, after the applicable embargo period, authors may publicly archive their manuscripts, subject to the terms outlined in the instructions for authors. More information on authors’ reuse of their own content can be found here: https://www.ersjournals.com/authors/copyright-and-reuse
